Back-to-School Workshops for Faculty Support Student Success in the Classroom
UNC Charlotte’s award-winning Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) has expanded its capabilities to support faculty who seek to keep pace with emerging technologies, teaching tools and learning practices. CTL now offers its most robust schedule to train new instructors and to provide seasoned faculty with the newest tools and methods for both in-person and remote instruction.
“Students are most successful when instructors keep them engaged and provide easy-to-navigate Canvas pages with appropriate feedback channels,” said Heather McCullough, Ph.D., associate director of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). “The University is putting resources into redesigning the learning experience to support the work of instructors with a focus on student engagement and student success.”
CTL’s newest certificate program – Essentials of Learning Technologies – provides instructors with the latest best practices for using Canvas, communicating with and evaluating students, and teaching with Zoom. This can be paired with CTL’s Essentials of Teaching and Learning certification, which provides a foundation for teaching in higher education.
CTL’s Back-to-School Workshops are offered now through August 20 to help instructors start the year strong. These workshops are appropriate for new faculty, teaching assistants, and seasoned faculty. In addition, CTL offers self-paced workshops that can be accessed 24/7, 365 days a year.
