Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for your continued support of our enrollment efforts. Your commitment is evident in the positive gains we see across the board. We have about three weeks until the start of the Fall 2023 semester. Here are the latest updates:

Undergraduate Enrollment
We have seen increases in new undergraduate enrollment over the last two weeks. Enrollment of new First-Time-in-College students is ahead of last fall by more than 200 students and enrollment of new Transfer students is also up by 60 students.

  • More than 970 new first-year and transfer students are registered for a New Student Orientation session in August and students continue to make reservations daily.

  • We estimate that another 600-700 new undergraduate students will register over the next three weeks.

  • Course capacities in high-demand courses are a concern. Departments are encouraged to review seat availability and make adjustments where possible to accommodate new students who have yet to register.

Continuing undergraduate enrollment is strong with increased retention of first, second and third year students. Please reach out to eligible students who have not registered for the fall and encourage them to seek assistance if needed. While advisors continue their non-registered outreach, a message from the academic department may get more attention at this stage.

Students who are not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) for financial aid should be encouraged to file an appeal. The deadline to appeal is August 28, but earlier is certainly better to secure their course schedule for fall.

Graduate Enrollment
Overall graduate enrollment continues to run ahead of this time last year with an increase of nearly 300 students. New graduate enrollment is up 428 students over this time last year while continuing enrollment is down by 133 students.

Graduate Admissions staff continue outreach to all eligible but not registered students to encourage them to enroll. With the first day of classes less than three weeks away, we ask that Program Directors make timely recommendations on admission for any outstanding applicants to ensure that students have time for advising, registration and orientation. As a reminder, if students have decided NOT to enroll, please communicate that information directly to Maryanne Maree-Sams or Ellie Ivey in the Graduate School.
